Jackie Weissman
FOUNDER
Jackie received her MFA in film and video production from Columbia College-Chicago, and has spent the last 25 years as a media producer, director, editor, and educator in Portland, OR.
Her documentary, Rock N Roll Mamas - featuring Zia McCabe of The Dandy Warhols, Kristin Hersh of Throwing Muses, and hip hop mc, Ms. Suad - has shown to sold-out audiences around the world. Her award winning film, The Gorilla and the Piker, was featured on WNET, Channel 13 in New York, as a part of its Reel New York series.
Jackie is committed to helping birth unheard stories into the world, and is proud to be part of a global documentary community.
She co-founded Women In Film-Portland and served as Board President for two years.
She was a founding organizer of Oregon Documentary Camp, and has served as Director of the program, now called Doc Camp, since 2016.
And Jackie is currently the Northwest Regional Coordinator of the Documentary Producers Alliance, a board member for the Portland Independent Film Festival, and a mentor for the Women in Film-Portland Incubate/Educate Documentary cohort.
She has run Oregon Media Lab with Jen Tate since they co-founded it in 2019.

After studying Creative Writing and Improvisation at Stanford University, Jen went on to write for CNET & Network for Good (a joint venture of AOL, Cisco and Yahoo!). She then studied Media & Education at San Francisco State, and worked for Sesame Street.
In the past decade, she has served as Executive Director of the Portland Area Theatre Alliance, Producer of Oregon Documentary Camp, (now called Doc Camp) and Steward of her own documentary short, Karaoke People.
Jen considers herself to be a Story Doula - helping people bring their stories to life.
In 2019, she co-founded Oregon Media Lab with Jackie Weissman, to extend the reach of her role as creator and producer on a range of media projects from PSAs to features.
In 2022, she joined the board of Catalyst Film Collective to help elevate new voices in film by creating opportunities for members of marginalized communities to tell their own stories
And in 2023, she became Chief Creative Officer of Your Bestselling Book, where she works as a storyteller, editor, and creative strategist.
